The 6 Best Rollerblade Helmets for Ultimate Protection

The 6 Best Rollerblade Helmets For Ultimate Protection

When rollerblading, a good helmet is just as important as your skates. Rollerblading is a fun and enjoyable activity, but there is a fair amount of risk involved. A helmet helps mitigate some of that risk, and it should be worn every time you are on your skates.
If it’s time to upgrade your helmet– or purchase your first– we’ve got you covered. Read on to learn about the 6 best rollerblade helmets on the market today.

6 Best Rollerblading Helmets

1. Montana Skateboard Helmet

With 11 built-in ventilation holes, Montana’s helmet is designed to keep you cool on even the hottest of days. When you do sweat, the moisture-wicking liner helps transport moisture away from your head, helping you stay comfortable. And you can rest assured you’re safe, as this helmet is CPSC certified and meets international safety standards. While this is considered a skateboarding helmet, Montana’s helmet is ideal for multiple sports, including rollerblading.

2. Triple Eight The Certified Sweatsaver

Aptly named, The Certified Sweatsaver’s liner is made from a thick, soft foam covered in moisture-wicking fabric. If you find standard helmets too stuffy, this may be an excellent option. The liner is removable so you can swap them out for easy cleaning.

Triple Eight’s helmet is CPSC compliant, and available in multiple sizes to help ensure a good fit. It even comes in various different colors and patterns including shaved ice, sunset, mint rubber, and purple glossy.

3. TurboSke Multi-Sport Helmet

Fully compliant with both European and United States safety standards, TurboSke’s helmet has been tested and proven to provide ample protection. The helmet makes use of two different reinforced layers to keep you safe in the event of a fall or collision. Eleven different ventilation holes help keep you cool, and the adjustable buckle helps provide a snug fit against your head. TurboSke’s helmet is perfect for just about any sport, rollerblading included.

4. S-ONE Lifer Multiple Impact Helmet

With many standard rollerblade helmets, one collision is all it takes to compact the foam lining so that it is no longer protective. That is not the case with S-ONE’s Lifer. Designed to withstand multiple impacts and ASTM certified, the Lifer is an estimated five times more protective than your standard skating helmet.

The investment may be a little steeper, but S-ONE’s helmet will likely last you longer than many cheaper alternatives. It is also available in a wide range of sizes and colors and even comes with the option to add a visor.

5. Outdoor Master Helmet

Sleek and comfortable, Outdoor Master’s Helmet is a multi-sport helmet that is both ATSM and CPSC certified. The interior ventilation system does a great job of keeping you cool as you skate, and the double-adjustable chin straps help you find that perfect fit. Best of all, Outdoor Master includes a lifetime warranty with your purchase.

6. Razor V-17 Youth Multi-Sport Helmet

Designed for children ages 8 to 14, Razor’s multi-sport helmet is perfect for the younger skater in your life. The interior padding was built with ergonomics in mind, helping the helmet stay comfortable, even during extended use.

Also featured is a side release buckle that makes fastening and unfastening the helmet a breeze, as well as interior vents for added breathability on warm summer days. Razor’s helmet is available in a variety of colors and patterns, too, which may make it more appealing for kids.

Do You Really Need A Helmet?

The short answer is: yes.

The long answer is, you really do need a helmet. If you are in an accident or you fall and there’s nothing protecting your head, there is the potential for a serious injury such as a concussion or a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Few things will bring your rollerblading fun to a halt faster than a head injury.

When you are wearing a properly fitted helmet, however, you are protecting your skull and brain. Helmets are designed to absorb the force of impact, helping to keep you safe. It is worth noting, too, that a helmet is only going to protect you if it fits properly. A helmet that is too big may not be able to absorb enough impact during a fall.

On that note, always make sure your helmet fits snugly– there shouldn’t be room for your head to turn or move freely inside of the helmet. But it should be comfortable, too. If your helmet hurts your head, there will be added temptation to skip wearing this important safety device.

Final Thoughts

You can’t safely rollerblade without a helmet. If it’s time for a new one, check out one of the options on our list. There are other gears that you will need too such as wrist guard, elbow pads, knee pads, rollerblading socks, and more. Thank you for reading our article on the 6 best rollerblade helmets!
